It’s been a week since my apartment building caught on fire. Since then, I’ve been staying at a friends place. Luckily, I was able to get my PC tower out that night and it seems to be working ok (phew!). I just finished watching my entire apartment get packed up last night and my stuff is being sent out to get cleaned and maybe saved. I won’t be living there. So where? Looks like I may be moving in with my girlfriend in New York!!! Looks like the folks at Mythic will be cool with me working remotely too, which is great!
So, just taking it one day at a time at this rate. Waiting to hear what will survive.
As for creativity?
I’ve actually started to work on the March calendar and almost have it completed. I’ll shoot to have that up hopefully by the weekend. It’s been great seeing how much press my Mummy Munny keeps receiving. I still have 2 left and I may look to eBay or straight up sell them soon. I’m also researching into making some iGoogle themes. Seeing as I am researching that and already have quite a few iPhone wallpapers created, are there any other themes or devices people are using you’d like to see my stuff on?
Anyways, that’s all for now. Just thought I’d check in.
Wow! I haven’t visited the kid robot forum in awhile and when I was there today, I found out my Mummy Munny was featured as one of the 20 best Munny designs of April 2006. Check it out!
Man, I think I need to start on the limited edition set of Mummy Munnys I plan to sell. In all there will be 6 Mummys ever created, the first was the one I have. I plan to make 5 more and sell. So, I gotta get rollin now that Phirebrush is done.
Hrm, has there been some cosmic shift that no one is telling us about? One that breaks up relationships? I’ve talked to alot of friends and people and everyone I talk to tells me about how they broke up or someone they know has broken up. I mean, alot of people, myself included. Be it if they dated a few weeks or few years, relationships are dropping like flys in march/april. what gives? crazyness!
Anywho.
As you may have seen from previous posts, I’ve completed my first Munny: Mummy Munny. I’m happy with how he turned out and so far people seem to be liking him as well. I even got someone who wants to buy him! So, if there are more people that would, I may just buy a few more and do a limited run and sell them. That’s awesome! Didn’t think anyone would want something I did, but feels nice. Today I did some more mockup work for the next Phirebrush. It’s looking more and more less likely I’ll make the May 1st deadline I wanted to. Crazy life got in the way and now my motivation to work on it has disappeared. But I’m trying to force myself back to it because alot of people want it back online. Here I go, pleasing others. HAHAHA. I’ve had this damn cough ever since I left CT a few weeks ago. I just can’t shake it. I don’t know if I’m not use to the dry Arizona atmosphere or if I got pnomnia (sp?) from all that moving and being out in the rain/cold last month, helping dad/nichole move or if its cause we got the a/c cranked full blast everyday. No clue. I may have to get some cough medicine or something. I’m fine for a bit but than I just get like these surges of strong coughs. Oh well. Only 16 more days till I go back to Cali. Can’t wait! Been thinking of just moving there (finally).
Ok I did a few test shots of the bandage. Unsure if im 100% with it, but i’ll let it sit on him for a bit, see how I feel. If I like, I will start fraying the bandage a bit so it looks warn. hehe.. ok, photos.

Thanks to you guys for checkin out the WIP shots, it was ALOT of fun. I’ve learned a bit too from doing this one. I may keep this one but if there is interest, I may do a limited run of 10 of these guys. So, we’ll see if there is a “demand”. Well, onto the photos…

Fuck. Just what I was scared would happen. I just put some tape behind the eye templates I made, and the tape part itself was the clean part. DOH. So, I think I have to buy some acrlyics and define the eyes now, so my plan to clear coat is postponed. So I might check to see if Michaels has any fabric so I can cut it into stripes for the bandages. Hrm, this sucks cause I SUCK at artistic things like this…

Today I started the top crackle coat of the Munny. It was by far the trickest to do. Previously, I’d tip the parts on their side and than paint parts at a time. But with the crackle, I had to paint it all at once. I decided to hang them up. But man you really really have to move fast and evenly with the crackle. Here are some shots of the body parts after the crackle process. I’ll probably let it sit and dry for today/tonight and do the clear coat tomorrow. I’m really curious of my eye templates held up. I have a feeling I may have to go over the eyes with black paint by hand (doh). So, we’ll see. Again, pictures are below, click the links:

This morning I started with the first coat of the Black Gloss base. Tonight, when it’s cooled down outside, I will put a second coat on. Than tomorrow, I’ll start with the crackle coat. I also cut out some eye templates, so I have to get those ready today, so tomorrow I can put them on so when I spray the crackle, it leaves the black parts for the eyes. He’s getting closer to being complete! Probably try to pick up some bandage/gauze or some white fabric. If this turns out well, I may do a limited run of 10 or so and sell them, if there is interest that is. Onto the pictures……

Tonight I started on priming the body of the Munny. Have to wait till night because its been way to hot during the days. I have a bit of a run on one arm and near the butt, but it’s nothing to big or bad that I would have to sand and redo. Besides he’ll be covered in crackle and bandaged. haha

tomorrow morning I plan to wake up (early like usual, stupid bodys still used to eastern timezone) and start with my first coat of black base. Hopefully start crackling on Friday. Also, you may have noticed I’ve started to link the images, rather than have them in the posts. With all these posts, I figured it’d cut down on load times and make it easier to read my other posts, incase you don’t want to read about the Munny figure. This blogs a jumpin now, I’ve been posting alot! HAHA

Yesterday, I decided to test it on one of the accesories, a hockey stick. I sanded, primed, sanded primed than put on 2 coats of the black gloss base coat. This morning (since its semi-cool outside) I started with a coat of the Crackle and so far, it looks like it’ll be a-ok. I gotta get a can of clear coat later to test that. But I think I’ll start sanding the Munny today…
